Clwb Nawa is proud to offer authentic Ogawa jute rope, sourced directly from Japan and made using traditional 3-ply construction at the Ogawa mill. Loved for its warm golden colour and buttery-smooth fibres, Ogawa rope has become a modern classic in rope communities – and now you can get it here, at a fair price, exclusively for our members.

Our rope is supplied untreated, just as it leaves the mill. That’s because we believe conditioning your rope with your own hands is part of the craft. As a member of Clwb Nawa, you’ll have the chance to treat your rope with us during regular rope care sessions — learning how to condition, finish, and personalise it safely.

Jute Wax and Oil treatment blend

Looking after the rope you use is as much a part of the craft as tying itself. That’s why we’ve made our own wax and oil blend to treat rope — our own premium conditioning paste made with cold-pressed camellia oil (tsubaki) and pure beeswax. It comes in a convenient resealable tin, small enough for your rope bag and big enough to treat a full set of ropes several times.

Why treat your rope?

  • Helps reduce fibre shedding and prolongs the life of your rope
  • Adds a protective wax barrier
  • Makes rope feel smoother, more responsive, and more personal
  • Ready to use — just warm a little between your hands or cloth and apply

Ingredients:

  • 100% cold-pressed camellia (tsubaki) oil
  • Pure beeswax
  • 150ml eco-friendly resealable tin

How to apply:

Use your hands (everything is cosmetic-grade and skin-safe), or a microfibre cloth. Work a small amount through the rope, paying particular attention to the fibres and ends, then let it rest and soak in.
